Upcoming Job Openings Bring Me Hope has exploded beyond the capabilities of our family. Because of this, we need people who have a heart for the Chinese orphans to join our team. So far we have helped ten kids receive homes, but that is just the beginning. To help even more orphans, we need people to volunteer for these positions: Development Director Orphan Program Director Film Director Website Director Interns Full Details at: www.bringmehope.org/news/march06/jobs.doc |

Adoption Stories from Abroad Americans are not the only people involved with Bring Me Hope and Chinese orphans. Far away in the Netherlands, the Sijben family heartily supports Bring Me Hope, and after watching the DVD they decided to bring home a little one from China. Their story is incredible and awe inspiring. BMH How many kids do you have? Sijben Family Ingrid and I don't have any children at the moment. 7 years ago my wife had her womb removed due to cancer. Her sister offered directly to carry a baby for us, which would give us the chance to be the biological parents. We had to wait 2 years for the all clear and then spent the next 3 years in and out of hospitals until finally the procedure was successful and we were blessed with our daughter Loeka (pronounced Luca), only to lose her again after 5 months due to a metabolism disorder called Zellweger Syndrome |

BMH What made you consider adoption? Sijben Family After losing Loeka, we didn't know which direction we should take. |

Should we try again or not? If we tried again, my wife and I had a 1 in 4 chance that the same thing could happen again. Anyway, Ingrid's sister offered to try again using one of her own eggs and we had been trying with this procedure when, a little over a year ago, Ingrid met somebody who was in the middle of an adoption procedure out of China. They sent us an email with a few different adoption links to look at, one of them being a link to your website, Bring Me Hope. After watching your video and seeing all the children who needed homes we were hooked. It felt so right, as if it was meant to be this way. We immediately registered ourselves as wanting to adopt, and we are at the moment involved in a course where we are learning all about adoption, not only from an adopted parents view but also from the views of the adopted child and the biological parents. |

BMH When will or did you bring your child home? Sijben Family If everything goes as planned, we are hoping to be able to adopt by the end of 2007. Here in The Netherlands the complete procedure from beginning to end takes approximately 3 to 4 years (if we adopt out of China) and involves a number of courses over adoption, an evaluation by the child welfare department, a pile of paperwork and a whole lot of waiting then if they decide we are acceptable as adoptive parents we may enroll with an adopting organization who will then try to match us up with a child. BMH What will her name be? Sijben Family I like that "her name" bit. Actually we don't get to choose whether we would like a girl or boy, and I have been told that there has been an increase in boys coming out of orphanages in China. At this stage of the adoption process though, we don't dare think about finding a name, but are content to wait until the time when things are more certain. BMH How has Bring Me Hope affected your adoption? Sijben Family I would have to say that Bring Me Hope has played a big role in our adoption plans. Until we saw the website of Bring Me Hope we were very unsure of which direction to follow, but after watching the video everything about adoption suddenly felt right. We have been fighting for the last 7 years against all the odds to produce a baby of our own and just when we thought that the fight was lost there opens up this whole new possibility. There are so many orphans out there that need a loving home and, as Steve Bolt said in the video, "We may not be able to save all the orphans, but if we can save just one, it will make a difference." Bring Me Hope; keep up the good work. |
