China News

Christmas wish program—
The Christmas Wish Program proved to be a great success.  As you can see from the pictures below the children oohed and aahed over all of the gifts.  We also had 2 TV stations film and air the event for all of Jiangxi province to see.  Hopefully we will have the opportunity to make a dreams come true every Christmas season.

Zhi Wei—
Last summer we met Zhi Wei at the Nanchang orphanage we worked at.  Blind and malnourished, he instantly captured our hearts.  Through our influence and with the help of our staff member, Jean Chen, we were able to get him into a professional care institute for blind children.  We give thanks for the proper training he will now receive in his new home.

GET INVOLVED… You don’t have to go to China to help orphans!
Camp flyers are printed and ready to hand out.  We’ll mail them to you for free; we just need more people to agree to hand out flyers.
Did you know???—
Despite the constant, blistering, oppressive heat, Nanchang holds only a handful of pools.  As authentic Southern Californians, we expected to see one on every corner.  So, we asked ourselves, where do the children spend their afternoons to escape the heat?  We soon found out that they do go swimming, but not in pools.  Nanchang has several lakes, mostly man-made, and you can pretty much guarantee that there will be swimmers splashing and playing in every one.  One day us girls were on a walk when we peered into the distance and saw several kids frantically searching for clothes.  We smiled to ourselves as we all thought of Norman Rockwell’s painting, “No Swimming.”
