My Orphan Mentor Program is Born—

Amongst the stunning mountains of China, ninety-six Bring Me Hope little campers became best friends with their American buddy, and then tearfully said goodbye.  It was the best week of their lives.  As each child left we asked ourselves, “How can we continue to help?”  During the first camp one of the boys asked his American buddy, "How do I behave like a man?”  At sixteen years old he knew he needed to behave maturely in order to survive in the world.  By the end of camp #6, we realized that all the children needed someone to guide them into adulthood.  With this thought in mind, My Orphan Mentor Program was born. 

Right now we have 2 children that need you.  How does the mentor program work?  A team of about 10 people will mentor one orphan teen (fourteen years and older) in China by using a bilingual translator as the bridge.  The translator will take your orphan out for a treat and will help them with their homework once a week.  You will get updates from them every week.  You will have an opportunity to encourage them through your emails.  Periodically we will setup a phone call from your orphan!  If you would like more details about this program, email Kristen at kristen@bringmehope.org

Bring Me Hope Camps of 2006 —

Forty-one volunteers touched nearly one hundred orphans this summer.  From water wars in the river to just holding the children in their laps, the volunteers gave these kids the week of their lives.  And as many of them said, “You go to China thinking you are going to be a blessing to the children.  But you leave knowing that you were touched as well.”
